EMDR therapy to help women create lasting changes in their lives and relationships.

You’ve been treading water for a while now managing to keep yourself afloat, but you’re tired and you want so much more from your life.

You have been dealing with things for so long you can’t pinpoint how or when your problems started. Or you have been to therapy off and on over the years, but no matter how many times you try and convince yourself you’re okay and safe you just don’t feel that way. There is a constant struggle being around your family because they don’t see and hear you. You have realized your coping skills only work in the moments you use them. But once you stop using these skills, you feel all the feels.

You realize that your past is seeping into every area of your life:

  • You struggle to focus because your mind is consumed by the negative things that have happened. You try to shift your thoughts to positive things, but the negative memories keep popping up.

  • You feel that there is something wrong with you because you can’t forgive, forget, and move forward.

  • You afraid of what your life will be like if you don’t heal. You don’t want to continue the negative patterns that you saw growing up with your family in your relationships.

EMDR can help you work towards healing the deep wounds you have struggled to talk about.

Virtual EMDR therapy can help you work towards healing the past in a different way than with traditional talk therapy. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is an evidence-based treatment that can be utilized to address trauma, perfectionism, anxiety, and many other concerns even when it is tough to talk about what happened or you are unsure of the root cause.

EMDR can bring about shifts in your life differently than traditional talk therapy.

EMDR allows your brain to do the healing and identify where you are getting stuck so you can move forward, without having to talk in depth about the painful memories.

It is as if the process allows us to identify a “file” in your mind that has been misplaced, sort through its contents, and then put it in its proper place. By putting the “file” in its proper place it no longer has power or control over your life so you can truly heal. This is what makes EMDR different from traditional talk therapy.

This means our sessions will focus primarily on targeting problem memories and less on talking about what happened. Many find comfort in knowing that they do not have to bring up every detail in order to overcome what has happened to them, but they only need to communicate whether things have changed or stayed the same.

Our goal is to help you stay in a space where the beauty of EMDR can take place without our interference. This allows us to work towards healing the whole of you, not just focus on what we can work with cognitively.

With online EMDR therapy we are able to dig deeper and shed light on the purpose of problem behaviors and thoughts and pave the way for new possibilities that are rooted in what is important for you.

EMDR preparation and therapy will help you learn to leave the past behind.

I will teach you proven skills to help you manage the stress and discomfort that comes with addressing trauma memories. We will practice these skills within our sessions so you can feel confident using them on your own.

I will be here with you every step of the way to navigate the process. We will work together to decide the direction of the sessions and your goals for therapy. I want you to truly understand that you have power and control over your life and healing so our sessions can be restorative.

Within our virtual EMDR sessions we will lay the foundation for lasting change by exploring the impact of trauma memories on your mind, body, and spirit. This will allow you to step out of the daily stress, inhale deeply, and start living the life you deserve.

Through EMDR therapy you can learn to stand firm in your truth and leave tough memories behind. It may feel impossible now, but you can have relief from those deep-rooted problems and create lasting change that can help you get out of your own way and shape a meaningful life.

EMDR therapy in an accelerated and power-packed format.

EMDR has the power to heal the deep stuff keeping you stuck, but it can be easy to get distracted by the things that creep up week to week- this prolongs your problems. Just like going to the gym once a week does nothing if we go home and eat your weight in calories every day. You need a balanced diet and exercise to get in shape.

I believe that we need to be highly intentional about the way we do therapy if we are really going to cultivate the changes you want to see in your life. This is why I developed the Pathway to Transformation and Liberation Program. Here we will intentionally be working together over six weeks in an accelerated format. Working in this way can provide you the best results and help you feel better faster. Why wait six years to feel better when you can heal in six weeks!

Over the course of the program I will guide you through a process that will help you dig deep and connect with your inner child and heal. We will get to the root of your struggles so that you can flourish the way you were meant to.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most problems that still have an impact on you today can benefit from EMDR. Together we will come up with a treatment plan of events that still have an “emotional sting” to them when you think about them today. These events will become the focus for our sessions.

  • Our sessions will be focused on how your past affects your present. Within our EMDR sessions:

    1. We will do a quick check in and discuss how you have been responding to the process and whether there have been any new insights or changes.

    2. We will check the strength of the symptoms you are experiencing.

    3. We will then focus your attention on the problem we are addressing. I will frequently check in with you to determine whether there has been a change or if the issue has stayed the same.

    4. We will do a final check to determine whether there has been a change in the way you view or experience the problem. We will wrap up this portion of the session and use coping skills to calm your body and mind if needed.

    5. We can spend time discussing what came up during the session or determine the direction we would like to take in future sessions.

    6. You will build new connections and understanding, while reducing triggers and problem thoughts.

  • I know that EMDR can take some time to get used to because talking through things is not the focus of the work. Our sessions will be a hybrid of EMDR and traditional talk therapy. Once we have begun working with your trauma memories, I will do a quick check-in and determine whether you would like to continue EMDR or utilize talk therapy. This helps me know how I can best support you during our time together.

It is important for me to give you space to talk through what has come up as we address the trauma memories with EMDR. Depending on where the session takes us, we may incorporate EMDR to solidify the connections you have made. If we have chosen to continue EMDR, I will give us about 5 to 10 minutes towards the end of the session to discuss any insights and connections that have been made.

  • We will be doing EMDR in all of our sessions, but we will not be using specific EMDR methods to work with trauma memories until you are ready. For EMDR to be effective you need to trust me, have the right coping skills, and be ready. We will work together to build a strong therapeutic relationship that will be the foundation of the healing that will take place. I know that you are ready to feel better, but we need to keep in mind that the timing is important and we do not want to jump into the process before you are ready.

  • EMDR will not erase what happened, but it may change your understanding of it. Many of my clients describe it as if the problem or memory seems far away and that it no longer has power over their lives. They also talk about how similar situations don’t trigger them the way they used to. This is because there have been shifts caused by the EMDR process that allow the problem or memory to be put in its appropriate place so healing can occur.

  • EMDR is an evidenced-based treatment that can be used to address trauma and other concerns. Although I cannot make any guarantees, if you are interested in EMDR, we can discuss it as a treatment option. Within the first few sessions we will complete some assessments that will help me determine whether virtual EMDR therapy is right for you. I also offer free consultations so we can determine whether I am the right EMDR therapist for you. Click here to schedule your free meet and greet.

You don’t have to live in fear of the future because of the past. Long-term healing is possible and attainable.
